RCB’s consolation victory

It was the last match for both Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 10th season of IPL. Both the teams are out of the play-offs. RCB skipper Virat Kholi was playing in front of his home crowd, though he was from the visiting team. Despite the RCB’s batting might they had a really bad season. RCB lost as many as 10 matches this season, recorded their third overall win with a 10 run victory over Dell at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi.

Virat Kholi, who himself had a sloppy season, can seek some comfort ahead of Champions Trophy, as he scored much needed 58 off 45 balls on his home turf.

The Delhi fans, who came in large to cheer for Kholi more than Daredevils, went back happy, as they got to see the typical Kholi knock, which lifted RCB to 161/6. In response, DD skittled out for 151. Delhi needed 13 from the last over. But left arm Pawan Negi ensured a consolation win for RCB.

Kholi played some exquisite shots in front of the packed Kotla. The extra-cover boundary off Corey Anderson, which he hit, looked if he was defending the ball, while the ball flew out of the boundary.

Chris Gayle (48 off 38 balls) ably supported Kholi, who played in the same momentum. Their partnership gave the basic foundation to the Bangalore innings.

Earlier, Bangalore won the toss and elected to bat first in anticipation that the pitch would turn in the second innings. It was Rishabh Pant for Delhi, who showed his batting skills with some clean strikes and stood for the team. Otherwise, there was no other thing to cheer about Delhi’s performance.
