Team India Falls Short Of The Run Chase In The First ODI

After bagging the T20 series by 2-1 against South Africa, Team India is playing a one-day series and the first match took place last evening in Lucknow's Ekana Sports City Stadium. India won the toss and elected to bowl first. The match was restricted to 40 overs due to the rain and South Africa registered a decent total of 249 for the loss of 4 wickets in their 40 overs. David Miller (75 not out) and Heinrich Klaasen (74 not out) are the top scorers for the side and Quinton de Kock (48) supported the team well. Shardul Thakur (2/35), Kuldeep Yadav (1/39) and Ravi Bishnoi (1/69) are the top bowlers for the Indian side for the day. It was an easy chase for Team India predicted the fans and cricket lovers.

India fell short of the chase by ten runs and scored 240 for the loss of eight wickets in their 40 overs. Sanju Samson (86 not out), Shreyas Iyer (50) and Shardul Thakur (33) are the top scorers for the side. Lungi Ngidi (3/52), Kagiso Rabada (2/36) and Keshav Maharaj (1/23) delivered their best among the South African bowlers. Heinrich Klaasen has been named as the Player of the Match. South Africa is now leading the ODI series by 1-0. The second one-day international between India and South Africa will take place on Sunday on October 9th JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi and the final ODI will take place on October 11th in Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
