Firefighters from several fire departments on Sunday were battling hard to control the fire in Pike State Forest in Pike County. The centre of the fire was off Pike Lake Road located north of Pike Lake State Park.
The fire department was alerted and 6 fire departments came to the scene to battle the forest fire.
Some residents in that area may have been evacuated as a precaution from the flames, said a county official.
Officials from the fire department were battling the blaze for several hours.
As of now there is no information as to how many acres of forest land was affected in Sunday's wildfire.
According to reports, the dry and windy conditions prevalent on Sunday was mainly responsible for the spread of the fire.
