Uber Offers Rides To Teens With New Pilot Program In Columbus

Uber has launched a new pilot program in the Columbus which allows teens to get a ride without a parent in the vehicle. Uber launched these service is for teenagers who are 13 to 17 years old.

Parents invite their teens to join the family profile on Uber app. Once their teen accepts the invitation and creates an account in the app, they can get a ride.

Uber said that there is a need to help busy parents who juggle work and family. The ride-sharing company also said that fewer teens are getting their driver's licence.

"I just feel like it's not safe to leave an unattended child by themselves in a car with a stranger whether or not that person has been checked out," said Sandra Binning, who has three children.

Uber also said teens can not use the service without their parents permission. Teens also cannot get an Uber account if they are not connected to a family profile. The ride-sharing company also said that teens are only matched with the experienced drivers, who consistently get five stars from their passengers.
