Ohio Inmate Pleads Guilty

An Ohio inmate pleaded guilty of murdering a fellow inmate after he repeatedly beat him in the head with a cinder block at an Ohio prison last year.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reported, according to the Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell, Casey Pigge, aged 29, pleaded guilty to aggravated murder on Monday, 30th January, 2017, for killing the 26-year-old Luther Wade at Lebanon Correctional Institution, last February.

Pigge told to the investigators that, he blindfolded Wade to show him a card trick on Feb. 22. Then he repeatedly struck Wade over the head with a cinder block taken from a cell wall,  said by prosecutors.

Prosecutors said that, Pigge said that he "wouldn't die," and when he stopped beating, Wade kept making noises, so he continued beating him with cinder block. Wade's body was discovered by corrections officers after 10 minutes of the incident.

They took him to the nearby hospital where he died from his injuries. For aggravated burglary, Wade was serving a 10-year prison sentence. Investigators said, his death came a day after he was transferred to Pigge's cell.

Pigge is currently serving 30 years of life sentence for aggravated murder from a 2009 case at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility.

Prosecutors ruled out death penalty because of Pigge's low IQ and instead sought out a life prison sentence without parole. They also did not comment on the motive of slaying. In February, Pigge is expected to be sentenced.
