Shaily Macker, who is a board-certified family medicine physician, has joined the Morris Hospital Yorkville Campus, 105 Saravanos Drive, Yorkville. Macker is trained to care for the patients of all ages. In addition to the diagnosing and treating illness, she also provides preventive care, routine check-ups, health risk assessments, immunizations, screening tests and also personalized counseling on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She has a specific interest in teh preventive care, women’s health, acute and also chronic disease management.
She attended the medical school and completed an internship at Government Medical College in the Surat, India. She completed a three-year family medicine residency at the Akron General Hospital in Akron, Ohio. Prior to joining the Morris Hospital, Macker practiced as the family medicine physician for more than 11 years, including the last two years at an outpatient setting in the Shorewood.
When growing up in the India, she remembers being fascinated while listening to the stories from her aunts who were doctors. Now she realizes those stories were what led her to pursue the career in medicine.
Macker believes in working collaboratively with the patients to establish long-term relationships based on trust so that while being together they can achieve the best possible outcome. She is an advocate for preventive and holistic medicine which seeks to prevent disease or establish treatment plans before the long-term complications arise. She has a passion for educating the patients on how they can become healthy, helping them to make informed decisions about health and teaching them how to achieve the health-related goals.
