RCB Creates History In IPL

Royal Challengers Bangalore created yet another history, but this time it was at Eden Gardens against Kolkata Knight Riders.

The home side went silent after Kolkata were bowled out for a modest 131 runs in 19.3 overs after Bangalore skipper Virat Kholi won the toss and elected to field first.

But the chants for KKR rose by the first six overs in the second innings as the hosts staged a remarkable comeback by ending Bangalore chase to 49 runs only, which is the lowest total in the history of IPL.

No one expected that a team like RCB, which has a heavy batting line-up to cave in so meekly. It was an excellent captaincy by Gautam Gambhir, who put the visitors under pressure right from the first over by starting with two slips.

Nathan Coulter-Nile changed the course of the match in the third over, when he got dangerous Kholi caught at the second slip by Manish Pandey.

Pandey was in action again in the fourth over, when he caught Mandeep Singh off Umesh Yadav. Coulter-Nile continued his attack by taking Ad De Villiers in his next over. Keder Yadav became Coulter-Nile’s next victim when he mistimed a flick to be caught at mid-only by Chris Woakes. The duo also managed to dismissal Bangalore’s big gun, Chris Gayle.

Not even a single Bangalore batsman could reach the double-figure mark.

Earlier, Sunil Narine once again gave the home team a flying start as he scored 34 off 17 balls, but a middle order collapse saw Kolkata being bowled out for 131.

But Bangalore hit back when the left arm pacer Tymal Mills took Gambhir’s wicket, who was caught behind by Kedar Jhadav for 14. Stuart Binny then sent Narine back by having him caught at deep square-leg by Yuzvendra Chahal.

Kolkata recorded the fastest 50 of this season in 3.5 overs, but ultimately ended up as the first team to be bowled out while batting first.
