The University of Akron is discussing to host a branch campus of the University of Mumbai in India.
The university said that UA President Matthew Wilson recently hosted the representatives from India and held preliminary discussions about the potential location of the branch facility.
UA is one of the several options for 160-year-old university.
According to the timesofindia.com, the University of Mumbai's vice chancellor visited several potential locations in the United States. The website said that, the options include buying a building in the Manhattan or a University in Houston, and if neither works out, there is an option to set up a facility within UA.
University of Akron has offered a building to the school. The website also said that UA officials are likely to visit Mumbai in May to detail the plans.

Wilson said in a statement that, in the last year, our Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics hosted the students from University of Mumbai in conjunction with the program focused on U.S. election process and system. Building on this successful joint program, we have engaged in the discussions about expanding our relationship further on several fronts, including the initial discussions about potentially housing the University of Mumbai on the UA campus in some form or fashion.
The university wants to develop the Center for International Students and Scholars and also create an Institute for Global Education and Engagement to increase the number of international students in the university.
Wilson also said that, while much remains to be researched and explored, a closer relationship with the University of Mumbai will function as the another valuable enhancement to our global footprint and our efforts to expand the international programming.
