Two women cricketers from Australia, currently competing in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in India, were said to have been followed, and one was attacked by a man on a motorcycle in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, according to police on Saturday. The man was taken into custody on Friday related to the event that occurred on Thursday morning near Khajrana Road, as confirmed by an official. Sub-Inspector Nidhi Raghuvanshi explained that the cricketers had exited their hotel and were heading to a cafe when a motorcyclist began to follow them. He is accused of inappropriately touching one of them before riding away, she mentioned. The cricketers quickly alerted their team’s security officer, Danny Simmons, who reached out to local security personnel and arranged for help.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Himani Mishra subsequently met with the two athletes, took their testimonies, and filed a First Information Report under sections 74 (using force to disrespect a woman) and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the MIG police station. A passerby who saw what happened wrote down the motorcycle's license plate number, which helped the police find and arrest the suspect, known as Akil Khan. “Khan has previous legal issues, and the investigation is ongoing,” Mishra stated.
